Poetry Wednesday #3 – on unrequited love

I was loving you so hard
I forgot the idea of a future,
something concrete to hold on.
I got lost in you and nothing could
take me back.
All I needed was to love life,
not to love you.

I wrote this years after I was in love with someone who did not love me back. This was the realisation that unrequited love is still love, and that I could have used that love to love my life and myself.

Have you ever loved someone so much you forgot to love yourself?
